Course Objectives and Contents
When materials and methods in the industry are compared, there appear problems regarding the optimization and assessment under technical, economical and ecological aspects. The objective of the course is to show the Life Cycling Engineering as method to solve these problems.
![]() |
- Overview of the most important environmental policy tools and their application in the industry as well as outlining of these instruments and the Life Cycling Engineering
- Introduction into the methodology of Life Cycling Engineering according to the standard norms DIN ISO 14040 and 14044 (Live Cycle Inventory Analysis and Life Cycle Impact Assessment etc.)
- Extension of the purely ecological aspect and the technical, economical and social dimension up to the Life Cycling Engineering
- The further development of this method to a Design for Environment (DfE) – Concept will be shown by means of a chosen case study.
Practical Training
- Realization of the Life Cycling Engineering methods by means of a case study
- Implementation in the software GaBi 4
The practical training takes place in a block (2 days) at the end of the semester.
